D. W. D. Shaw Memorial Lecture 2025
Posted on 2025-03-18The concluding lecture of our series paying tribute to Professor Bill Shaw, the founding editor of Theology in Scotland, will be delivered by Dr Joanna Leidenhag.
Dr Leidenhag is Associate Professor in Theology and Philosophy at the University of Leeds. She studied at the University of St Andrews, Princeton Theological Seminary, and the University of Edinburgh. She has also previously taught science-engaged theology at St Andrews.
The working title for her lecture is “For the creation waits with eager longing...”: Panpsychism and the Problem of Evil". She will be referencing Bill Shaw's contributions in the area of Process Theology, while developing her own ideas on the Christian theological significance of panpsychism, a growing field bridging philosophy of mind, natural theology, and the dialogue between science and religion.
The lecture series has been generously supported by The Hope Trust.
Where: The Memorial Chapel of the University of Glasgow. We also hope to stream the event online.
When: Monday 12 May, 5.00pm. A reception will follow the lecture.
We hope you will be able to join us.
